How to write.

Well, you’d think the answer is pen and paper. Or more likely computer and keyboard. And yeah, that’s basically true. It’s what I’m doing at the moment. And yet there’s more. Perhaps it’s the question to question then. Maybe there should be more to the sentence. Maybe, just maybe, one should add: “well”; “a book”; Or to make the question obviously answerable, “good”.

I have written. Written a book to be more precise. And still I need to complete that sentence in the title. This week I’m in New York at ThrillerFest, a writer’s conference. I’m hoping to gather many more appendages to that title question. To probe more deeply, how to write.

While at the conference I’ll be getting a query letter critiqued by an editor. (There’s “a query letter” as an addition to that title sentence.) And I’m going to be pitching my book to as many agents and editors as I can at PitchFest.

In case you’re wondering my book, Abandoned Oath, is about a high school biology teacher driven to investigate mysterious murders while struggling to keep her troubled past hidden. Abandoned Oath is a thriller set in Appalachia, and is my debut novel. Stay tuned here for more.

Peace and love.
