Inside the Deep

Part I

Since there’s nobody following a calendar, I’m going to call today, Yommer 1st, 1 ND. I’m optimistic, New Dawn is a good name for a hopeful new era. Yommer just sounds funny. There are no options to use celestial objects like they used to, so really this is just up to me.

Today was a day. Just like yesterday, and likely same tomorrow. I made some progress on my work. Not much, but enough to say it’s in progress. I had found three code dumps on a data stick. Well, four actually, but one was a dump of the AI model similar to the one that… well, you know what it did. And I don’t want to even push those thoughts through my fingers.

The code dump I chose to work on was an earlier learning module one of the original coders created. If the greedy SOBs would have left it to her, we would have something that helped humanity.

Enough of that. I’ll journal my progress for whomever finds this archive. Sadly I’ve still not gotten any replies to my messages. I think I’ll take time to make a spectrum hopper to encode the messages onto more wavelengths, who knows who is listening, or how.

I’ve got enough supplies to last, and it’s just me. I’ve never really eaten much. I think I’ve always shrank into the smallest thing I could be, and small things don’t eat much. Water is a different story, but the recycler is working fine, and I have found enough spare parts to keep it running for a while.

At some point I’ll continue exploring this space I’ve found myself in. I only cleared the perimeter, as they say in adventure movies. Said in adventure movies. I don’t have any movie sticks, and nobody’s making any more. I have dreams that I’ve found huge rooms joining this place, one had a domed cathedral and beams of sunlight were dancing through glass panels. I woke with dried tears that time. It was a nightmare.

I think I’m digressing, this should be more of a technical journal, but I don’t know. This is kind of cathartic. Whomever reads this, if whomever ever does, can skip over the boring parts.

More next wake cycle. I hope I don’t dream of the sun again.
